WHAT'S NEW

(11/13/00) I slightly revamped the website. You'll see that each page at least is consistent at the top, and hopefully the main page will load faster now. And though I still have yet to pick up Voyage a Tokyo, here's the latest single, Decembre 24.

(10/27/00) We complete our Readymade Recordings section with Flying Science Class and Poetry Reading by Genqi Numata. Thanks to Rie Iizuka for the excellent job of translating Numata's poetry. Word has it that a big revamping of This Year's Girl is in the works with *everything* translated.

(10/13/00) Sometimes I hear nothing from Andrei and our translators for months. Other times, there's a burst of activity and I get swamped. I've been going over old emails, and I was reminded that Andrei sent me several new translations to fill in the gaps. They are from the London-Paris-Tokyo e.p.: London-Paris, This Year's Girl #2, and Past, Present, Future; and from Readymade Recordings: Jinx and This Year's Girl #3.

(10/1/00) Sorry for the break in the updates. I've been very busy finishing two of my films, and they are now hitting the festival circuits. I even got myself a dot.com for you to follow all the shenanigans. Please check STEKKI.COM for details and please support me!

Meanwhile, this year so far, we've had the brilliant Nomiya Maki solo album, which I am including here. Plus the new single, Voyage a Tokyo just came out and I have the first song translated. Thanks to Andrei and friends as usual.

(2/15/00) Added lyrics for The Birth of Cool, translated by Kirk Cumming.

(1/28/00) New page up for the Happy Sad single, finally including rare b-side Face B. Plus a brief update to our Pizzicatomania! page, with new translations of September Song and Action Painting, plus a revision of Audrey Hepburn Complex.

(1/18/00) Happy New Year! Isn't P5's decade wrap-up album just lovely? I've been enjoying it since I got back from my holidays in Taipei. No new lyrics just yet (there is one waiting in the wings), but I've updated some of the graphics. Kirk Cumming has redesigned the pages for On Her Majesty's Request, and they are just terrific. Also, check out Bellissima! and Baby Portable Rock.

(12/9/99)
Okay, I have the flu so I have a lot of extra time on my hands, so I've posted the lyrics to the new album. Start with Love Again and work your way downward. Cleared up a few errors in the Overdose page too.

(12/6/99) I know I'm late getting the new album lyrics all posted. I'm kinda waiting for the new album to come my way before I do. So please be patient. In the meantime, Kirk Cumming has redesigned the Overdose page, adding graphics and all that good stuff. He's promised to do some more, so let me know what you think.

(11/19/99) One more song leaks in before the release of the new album, courtesy Andrei: 20th Century Girl. I love these lyrics! So bittersweet... Plus more updates of classic albums: the Introduction and This Year's Girl #1 from This Year's Model e.p. and the St. Etienne remix of Catwalk.

(11/10/99) We have a huge update, part one of the latest P5 Lyric Database Pledge Drive. Apart from the general fixes applied to Romantique 96, we have Boy Meets Girl from Pizzicatomania (courtesy Kirk Cumming), Brigitte Bardot T.N.T. and Lovesong Lovesong from This Year's Model e.p., the Intro from the Television Workshop e.p., the Overture to Overdose (actually quite easy, ooops), Chicken Curry from Sister Freedom Tapes, all from Andrei. Our French list member Remi Gerard-Marchant has corrected a lot of our French lyrics and given a proper transcription to the tres romantique parts of Tokyo Mon Amour. More to come, we hope.

(11/7/99) The new album is on its way November 20, and we have a taster. Yes, lyrics before you even hear the song! Goodbye Baby and Maybe is one of 12 new songs on the album, and is translated by Andrei.

(10/26/99) The new single's out and we have translations from Andrei of Perfect World and La guerre est finie. Plus, we finally have a translation for The Audrey Hepburn Complex, courtesy of Ma-Kun.

(10/19/99) While we wait for the new single, Andrei has done a quick translation of Let's Be Adult from the Television Workshop e.p. Another piece to the puzzle. Updated graphics to the Pizzicatomania page.

(9/30/99) There's a new Pizzicato single coming out next month (followed fast by a NEW ALBUM and a REMIX 12 inch!!) and we have the advanced scoop on the title track, Perfect World, donated by Andrei Cunha. He won't reveal his advance copy sources, but we'll keep grilling him.
I am slowly updating the graphics around here, starting with the Couples page. Check it out and let me know what you think.

(8/26/99) Happy Anniversary everyone! We've been up a year and by way of celebrating we have pretty much the entire album of On Her Majesty's Request translated, bringing our percentage rating up to 75%! New translator and Pizzicato Five freakazoid Kirk Cumming (with a little help from his friend Miyuki) have been slaving over a hot Japanese-English dictionary to bring this out. You'll probably want to check the whole thing out, so start here, at Bellissima! 90. I also added some of these lyrics to Soft Landing on the Moon, where they overlap. This then jacked our percentage up to 77!

(8/7/99) The brand new e.p. is out and we've got lyrics! (Actually, we had them the day the e.p. came out but I wanted to wait until I actually owned Nonstop to Tokyo before putting them up.) Anyway, here's Nonstop to Tokyo, Room Service, and Mademoiselle, all by Andrei. Plus, we have filled in some missing lyrics from To Our Children's Children's Children.
(7/20/99)
Just finishing Couples with Seven O'Clock News and Everytime We Say Goodbye
(7/19/99) More from Andrei, this time filling in the gaps of Couples with They All Laughed, Serial Stories, What Now Our Love, Odd Couple and the Others, and My Blue Heaven.

(7/14/99) Let's welcome a new translator to the family, one of Andrei's friends, Akabane Masao. The two have added two more songs from Great White Wonder: K-I-S-S and FRIEND&LOVER.

(6/7/99) A long overdue update, as I finally found some time to tackle the huge translations for Baby Mexican Rock, Shiritori and Cosmic Blues. This is great stuff.
(5/3/99) More from Andrei, as we complete Overdose with Hippie Day, The Sweetest Girl, and add the rap to Statue of Liberty. Plus we finish off the latest e.p. with Tout,Tout Pour ma Cherie.
(5/2/99) Andrei gave up his weekend to finish off the last 4 of the Bossanova 2001 translations, Magic Carpet Ride Sleeper, Rain Song, and Saga. On top of that he fixed little mistakes in the other lyrics from that album.
(4/28/99) To quote rock-god Cornelius, it's a brand new season, and it's a new Pizzicato Five e.p.! While the Americans are celebrating the domestic release of Playboy and Playgirl (notice title change), we have Darlin' of Discotheque e.p. Seven days after its release, two of the three songs are translated, Darling of Discotheque and Jolly Bubbly Lovely, both by Andrei. We are still waiting for some French-speaker to translate Tout Tout Pour ma Cherie.
(3/3/99) Welcome home to dear Andrei, who, around November, had a severe falling out with Pizzicato Five after seeing a very sucky concert (why it had sucky-like qualities, I'm still not sure--all Mariah Carey covers? Maki high on crack? Who knows?). He didn't feel much like translating, let alone listening to P5, but after some soul-searching and buying a new iMac, he's all happy again. See, Andrei, it wasn't P5, it was because you were running Windows 98 ;)
Andrei completes our Playboy Playgirl page with Rolls Royce and I Hear a Symphony.
(1/15/99) Happy New Year everybody. I'm back from Taiwan with a mess of CDs, including P5 of course, and a helpful lyric sheet in a bootleg singles collection CD has allowed me to bring you roma-ji transcriptions of Audrey Hepburn Complex and Action Painting.
Also, newbie transcriber Se-Chan has sent in roma-ji to The Work of God, our first ever transcription from Bellissima! We need translators, folks, so don't be shy. Email me!
(10/4/98) Andrei has done it again. Either he is a wiz at Japanese or he has absolutely no life at all, because no sooner has THE NEW ALBUM come out, than he's got most of the lyrics translated. Check 'em out folks: Recession, la Depression, The International Pizzicato Five Mansion, A New Song, Week-end, Magic Twin Candle Tale, Concerto, Such a Beautiful Girl Like You, Playboy, Playgirl, Drinking Wine, The Great Invitations, and Stars. I don't have the album yet (it's in the mail), so I haven't personally verified these. But Andrei's a trustworthy man.
(9/29/98) Great GOOGLY-MOOGLY! Have we got a BIG-ASS update of lyrics for you, all courtesy of one heaven sent stud of a man, Andrei Cunha. New translations of Telepathy, Love Love Show, Happy Birthday, Hallelujah Hari Krishna, and Tokyo Mon Amour, where once we had only Japanese.
Also new transcriptions and translations of KDD, Funky Love Child, The Night is Still Young [Overdose remix],and Potpourri.
And if that weren't enough, we have translations of the latest single Week-end, and its B-side, Recession. Tanoshindekudasai! Enjoy!
