Art Music Weekly revue: 2012 week #25 (June 16 to June 22)

Food: - Curry lunch at Tapir, Shin-Ōkubo. Delicious as ever!
- Had planned to go to 8bit café with friends, but it was fully booked, and we somehow ended up at A.B.Café (a near homonym) in Kichijoji where I enjoyed a good om-rice!
- Got some delicious treats from New York! :)
- Didn't buy any, but took a photo of macaron ambassador Rika-chan (Japan's Barbie) in a window of Pierre Hermé, Omotesandō.

Exhibitions: - Ran into Léonard Foujita's "Fou Fou et Chat" exhibition while walking randomly near Roppongi. It features paintings and drawings of cats, and cute autoportraits of himself with cats! It's on until today June 23 at Norton Gallery.
- Hanyu Noa works with wood in a unique way to create tables, chairs, plates, etc. We checked out his exhibition at Toukyo.

Music events: Went to see Vanilla Beans' one-man live at Shibuya WWW! That was great! See my full report. I got hit by this chocolate on the head too..!

Art Food Music Weekly revue: 2012 week #24 (June 9 to June 15)

Food: - Had kangaroo for the first time at Australian restaurant Arossa in Shibuya. Good meat!
- Coupe glacee at Laduree, recently opened in Lumine Shinjuku

カンガルー Laduree

Music event: On June 10, I had the great opportunity to go see the Perez Prado Orchestra at Orchard Hall (Bunkamura) in Shibuya. Perez Prado was the King of Mambo, and his followers are still performing as probably the largest (14 musicians) and most authentic mambo orchestra still around. The large venue had a seated audience of thousands, mostly elderly (I was one of the youngest there, and probably the only foreigner too..!).
That was a great show! Though I still prefer Tokyo Panorama Mambo Boys. :)

Exhibition: Stumbled by chance upon a nice exhibition of Maruyama Yuki. The artist makes traditional Japanese paintings of various animals, often with a touch of humor. You can see some here and here. This is on at Silkland Gallery in Ginza until June 23.

Music Weekly revue: 2012 week #23 (June 2 to June 8)

Music event: - My P5MLer friend Peter from Australia was in town, and we went to see Portable Rock (Nomiya Maki's 80's band)! The timing couldn't have been any better! What a great show, and we even got autographs afterwards! My full report is here.
- After Portable Rock, we walked down to Aoyama Tunnel, a tiny bar located below Bar Oath, where Dorian was going to DJ. However I had to leave to catch my last train so I missed his set. I could talk to him a little bit though, always such a nice guy! I'll try catch up soon!
