Blog - I finally met Maki!

Music I finally met Maki!

Today I went to Shibuya for Nomiya Maki's book signing event! And sure enough, I finally got to meet her and shake her hand! :)

Her new book, "oshare ni ikiru Hint" (English title "50 Tips to Live in a Fashionable Way"), contains 50 short 2-page tips to be oshare. While definitely ladies-oriented, I'll try to give it a read and see what I can get out of it. :) In the center, there's also a small photo diary of her recent trip to Berlin to prepare her show "Joy". (For those reading her blog, the photo diary will feel a bit déjà-vu.)

By the way, I did go see "Joy" last Tuesday, and it was of course fantastic! I've been preparing a monster review/summary, expect it shortly.

You lucky guy!!!!I wish I could meet Maki and say how much she's influenced my life the last 8-9 years. nd tell her that my kitten siamese cat is called maki ;)

Was she nice to you, Patrick? Or does she act like a diva?

And also, about Joy... will the music be compiled in a new album??

I didn't get to talk much with her, but she seemed very nice and polite, and maybe a bit shy and quiet.
I guess this kind of event where you have to shake hands with a hundred (or two) fans are a bit uncomfortable too. I hope to meet her again someday in a more relaxed environment. :)

As for the music from Joy, two songs (Joy (acid disco mix) and Twiggy Twiggy) were sold at the show part of the show's book. Richard said there might be an album later this year, so let's keep our fingers crossed!

Chanceux !

Il me semble que Maki a toujours l'air un peu réservé. Ça lui donne un côté humain que les autres célébrités n'ont pas.

Mein gut ! C'est Chipple !

Congrats! I'd be understating if I said I was jealous. I'm pretty sure I have zero chance of ever meeting her (I'm 15 years old and living in the States). I really wish I was into P5 when they were still around, I discovered them like 2 years after they disbanded. But with Maki and Konishi both very much active and still contributing a lot to the scene I don't feel as empty inside from missing out. Ha ha. Also I'm glad we share a name because that means I can pretend that autograph is to me! :P

Patrick, it's better late than never. Even if P5 is gone, the good music stays!

Haha, good for you! :)

Well you could say she looks young for her age. :) Perhaps it's the photo angle?
I think she has only one boy.

We're definitely due for a P5 reunion! Let's hope Konishi isn't waiting for the 25 year mark. :)

Peter, c'mon. She isn't twenty y'know, what do you expect?! Are you looking at too many airbrushed magazine pictures these days? She looks like a real forty something woman would look, including the lines under her eyes that she's always had - fabulous!
