yes, apparently those marbly eyes scare away actual live cats.

Reminds me of that gag of cutting out a cardboard cat and putting tin foil in it's eyes to scare drivers into thinking they've run over a cat at night. Gag as in a pretty cruel prank... but still funny in a way.
