Tokyo Sanshin bldg and Godzilla

Tonight I passed in Hibiya, so as goes the latest trend, I went to 三信ビル (Sanshin building). I also had a coffee at New World Service, where an old man seemed to be the main waiter. Sanshin bldg, built in 1929 and currently the oldest building in the Hibiya area, will be destroyed this year.

Because of the large number of "no pictures" signs posted in all entrances and in front of elevators, I only took this one picture from the 2nd floor. The other is a poor close-up of the entrance facing Hibiya-kōen.

Then on my way towards Ginza, I caught this rare scene of Godzilla preparing an attack on Tokyo. Watch the news tonight!

Update (2006/6/26): Here's a great panoramic picture of the building.

That's right, Sanshin Building is the new cool place to hang out in Tokyo!

You know, I never noticed the "no pictures" signs. And I took tons of pictures while I was there. Funny that no security guards showed up to chastise me.

Well just be glad least it was only Godzilla. It could have been a collossal Sonim! Though I guess enormous ethnic korean starlets don't seem to wreck any buildings

What "no pictures" signs?

Anyway, nice post. We need more people to help promote awareness about Sanshin.

It was the first time I went, but there were stand-up signs in the middle of both entrances, and right in front of the elevators on both 1st and 2nd floors. Perhaps they're only there in the evening (it was a bit past 6pm)?

We still can save sanshin Building! I am creatingan association to do that! Who would care to join? rarnaud@hotmail.com

Yes, I agree. There is something we can do now to save the building. I think there needs to be international awareness and pressure put on Mitsui Fudosan (www.mitsuifudosan.co.jp), the developers who want to tear it down. ijm@best.com

I found a 3 minutes CG movie about the sanshin building. the guy recreated it over 2 months. If people see this movie they will try to save it. you can sign my petition at sanshinbuilding@gmail.com
just send a mail saying you want to keep it

I'd love to see the movie, but where is it?
