Technology Broken LCD: Help!

I messed up the small screen on a beloved piece of electronics! Arrrgh.

Everything is fine except for the LCD. Anyone has a clue if the LCD only can be replaced? If so, what is this called, and is it easy to get one?
In case this can help, the back of the LCD says "00-0280".

Any hints greatly appreciated!

Well that's about as much reflection I've done so far. :) I just need some more specific details.

It's an electronic scale. I'd hate to trash it for such a stupid reason...

I'm not an expert but I would guess that manufactures of these products don't make the LCD and order them from other makers. Therefore an LCD like that should be something standard or generic which you can just rip out and replace with another one. Akihabara probably has a shop that sells just that. BUT, is a scale worth all the effort? I bought mine for a few thousand yen and if the LCD broke I don't think I would go to the trouble unless it had some personal value.

Thanks for the tip!

Yeah indeed, I'm hesitating a bit. It was about 2000yen at Muji, so I could easily pick up another one. But also I always prefer to try to repair first, if possible, not because I'm cheap but cause I don't like throwing away stuff that can be fixed. I sure am not as affectionately tied to it as my post may have made it sound. :)

Anyway, I think I'm about to give in a get another one.

Oh and I had also emailed Muji and they told me that they don't have replacement parts like that...
